Nonagenerian trumpet player Al Slovacek!

A chance encounter in the FexEx on the corner of Ventura Blvd and Petit Ave in Encino, CA, August 17, 2009.

I was copying scores, and Al pegged for a musician. He started relating tales of his life as a trumpeter. And if that wasn't enough, he had his trumpet in his car, so he brought it inside and gave me a demonstration! Pretty amazing for just playing around, especially considering he'll be 90 in November!

yes. he keeps his trumpet with him. Everywhere he goes. At all times. He's 90 and it's what he loves.

and trust me. It's not so entertaining.. when you're related to him and see the same things for years.

This is why people shouldnt encourage it.

His family gets to hear about it. So thanks.
