    Hi canubelieve,

I think I was using a peeling cut, ie. bevel rubbing, but moving the tool forward in an arch, to remove wood quickly. Scraping with a skew chisel does dull it pretty fast, I use it that wat on the outside of bowls etc.

Thank you for watching and commenting.

    Hi Tim,

With the Skew I just ensure that it is pointing uphill by just a few degrees, so for wide wood the rest is very high, but the higher the tool rest, the more chance of snapping it, if/when you get a catch. So be careful, as always.

Hope that helps, a slight angle and a very good fulcrum ( tool hard onto the rest ).

    Hi BrendanSoda,

    Thanks for the comment.

The only problem withh these Lathes IMHO. is where the motor is, gets covered in shavings, dust etc. and gets far too hot. Mine has never shut down though, but mine is a manual speed change, so different. Maybe you could try WR. ( the source of all knowledge ) !!

    Good luck mate.

You are truly an expert, fantastic work. I have never seen the skew being used as a scraper. Does that dull it quickly?

Hi My friend How high do you have to put the tool rest when you skew the spinning top.

    Thanks Tim
