You're absolutely right: The Edge's intro is perfect as it is. I always get this strange feeling, I cannot describe, whenever I hear the first notes. It's a sort of heartache. That's why I hardly ever play the song anymore, it hurts to much. But when I hear it on the radio, the volume goes way up! I'm sure, being a democracy, the band discussed the alteration of the beginning. I think it made the song even more tender, "vulnerable". Just for the occasion. But it's a matter of taste.

Can't believe it has been almost a year already since I was so fortunate to be able to witness this incredible concert. Sweet memories... Bono really added something special to "One" with those few notes he played on his guitar at the beginning of the song. I know he is not a great guitarplayer, but in this case he did an amazing job. I remember being very moved by it. I'm glad I can watch this video every now and then. Thanks!

@bonofoundgrace i wonder if The Edge likes what Bono is doing. I think it adds nothing to a perfect opening of the song.
