MOBILE, Ala. -- At the Tiny Diny in Mobile, good conversation goes hand-in-hand with a home cooked meal and a possible $40 billion tanker contract has given folks plenty to talk about.
NG is a good military contractor. I don't have problem with the competition as long as the decision is fair and straight forward. Congress has the right to question the magnitude of EADS involvement in the partnership. It is alarming since the airframe is built by a foreign contractor and NG is only an integrator, but NG keeps saying they are the prime contractor. The British selected EADS for their tanker without any bidding. No one cried foul about it. But for US there should be competition.
Actually she was referring to Air France being involved with NG. I was there when she did the interview. What she said was...she didnt understand why the government had a problem with NG because most of the naval ships fighting and protecting us were built by NG. This was edited.
Wow . . . Average attitude of those idiots down in the South. Yeah, don't worry about the National Security, economic, or political ramifications of that discussion. Just care about the fact that your little city won't get the piddly 1,000 or so jobs that the ill-advised deal would create in your state.
NG is a small and new company? NG built the Hellcat/Wildcat of WWII and the Tomcat of the 60's. I guess 50 years is new and 3rd largest defense contractor is small for her.
