A sanctioned protest organized by Climate Justice Action to Copenhagen's Bella Center ended in violent clashes and arrests. Demonstrators pushed past police lines, prompting pepper spray and baton beatings from police. CNN reports that 250 demonstrators were arrested.
A second front opened as a peaceful group crossed a small bridge nearer to Bella Center, intending to meet NGO and developing country activists inside the high-security COP15 complex. A representative from the group negotiated with police, who offered to let them turn back without arrests. The group decided to make a push forward and the police responded violently, beating back and detaining the group.

These protesters will go down in history for their bravery and insistence on bearing witness to our collective leaders' failure to act on the most important issue to face mankind.
