He's been doing this for the last 25 years. Rant away we're use to it and for the most part we listen :)

Thanks for replying; with Miller & Duncan's work on outcomes, were you commenting more generically that there are many more factors than the actual model of therapy that affect therapeutic outcome, specifically the successful therapeutic alliance or relationship between client & therapist which in study after study is shown to be a key factor in successful therapy. Hope I'm getting you better - I was a bit confused, thought I was clicking onto a critique of CCT theory!
Your piece is entitled Client Centred Therapy and I am a client centred therapist for 11 years. I couldn't make sense from what you were saying any of the components I recognise as client centred therapy (offering the core conditions, unconditional positive regard, empathy, congruence, the actualising tendency, conditions of worth, that it is a way of being not a set of techniques etc). Would you care to elaborate at all? I'm genuinely interested in what you're trying to say here..

Thanks for the feedback. I am critiquing the "common factors" (therapeutic alliance, hope/expectancy, extra-therapeutic factors and placebo)of client directed therapy that Miller & Duncan propose.

a rant is correct, the thing about rants is the message gets lost in your psychobable and the frame of reference from which you communicate.
I say this as I feel I have the same problem and I am trying to learn to communicate on an holistic level so all can understand and not just one from my own frame of reference.
ps: and no not tranference I genuinely had to struggle to understand you and your mannerisms which I recognise I have only.
