Refreshing change to have an Amerindian rather than a Spanish-American voice singing this lovely song. Tell-tale clues? Spanish speakers habitally pronounce 'yo' as 'jo', and 'voz' as 'voth'.  And what a beautiful and accomplished voice. Dipak Nandy

There is something naive (in the original and best sense of the word) about Alfaro (with the exception of the intrusive pseudo-coloratura embellishments which add nothing). I am biased because I find that the words she uses are exactly the text I finally settled on after some two dozen conversations+ recordings in the Mexican and Peruvian countryside nearly 45 years ago. I keep coming back to its fundamental honesty - rare quality, these days.
