Thias is from Arizona ? I didn't know that , I thought he was from Arizona

@petree D! remember when we were talking about this same thing on our way to practice at juans gym. and then we started talking about a brothel house thats supposedly somewhere in fairfax. =] damn foundation.

@thrillseekers2010 oh ya if it sounded as if i directed the whole style thing on ya sorry. i just meant youtube in general lol. and i fell you on that shit about some moves gettin away with, although i have gotten into a conversation when my crewmate was in rock force (the newest generation which is gone now) and battled in fss10 a good observation he made on top rocks and as battles go deeper in you start to just hit the floor sooner and less emphasis on freestyling on top rocks to fit the mood
-
@petree and yes i agree, a lot of people do footwork with no flavour. so it works both ways. but i dont think people shoud get away with just doing certain moves and saying 'well thats my style'.....if you cant toprock then pfffft i dont give a fuck what you can do loool
-
@petree no no np i know that style does NOT = footwork. yes style is the way you do everything. and if someone is like Lil Gand does their power to the music, then thats dope. the only problem i have with powerheads is if they dont hit beats and do fuck all else. but other than that, yes focus on your power, your freezes, whatever aspectyou love most. just dont forget the rest!

@petree and sorry long comment lmao. but another thing related sorta that me and my homie ran a tangent into was the fact that a lot of people emphasized "style" = footwork. it was sorta annoying to read a comment like "he has no style cause he didn't do footwork." style is the character, the way you do moves and your overall approach of bboying. in short, the flavor behind the movements. someone can do hella nice footwork but itll feel empty stale/generic/robotic and vice versa with power.
-
@petree like the 6 step is like a foundational move and so are other old patterns of footwork and techs that came from past generations. that of course is basically the foundations for many new patterns of footwork and such. we came to an agreement that there are foundation of the dance (such as all of what you spoke of) and also what you as a dancer take from it (your own foundation)
-
@thrillseekers2010 after i posted my first comment, i actually spoke with my crewmate who had basically a 180 from no footwork and all tricks to more well rounded emphasis on footwork and we both came to i think honestly all those should be taken into account, but really everyone has their own preference on what they want to do to the music when they making that connection.not everyone is gonna be doing footwork and not everyone is doing power or tricks either.
-
@petree what about the foundations of the dance? how it started? what created the dance? i agree with what he says 100%, everyone has their own unique core or foundation, but i dont think people can say 'well air flares is my foundation' and they dont do fuck all else lol respect though, i agree, everyone ahs their own foundation, own approach
what thesis talks about foundation is truth! people think foundation is footwork and shit. it's whatever the basis of your style is be it powermoves, tricks or footwork!
