Humanism? Great Idea! When are we going to put it into practice?

Con subtítulos en español.

Since the age of Renaissance, human woes and needs are supposed to be at the center of all civilized effort. Yet we are not willing to see past social conventions and accept love for what it is. Love - everybody uses that word.

Jacque Fresco gave these statements in September 2010, at a lecture in Graz, Austria. Thank you again, Leo da Silva, for organizing this event.

  • why are the happenings of nature not controlled by causality? isn't it what Jacque teaches? you are a certain way because of something. you act a certain way because of something... etc

  • @TobiPK That's true. But since our biological or technological methods of reception are not able to fully grasp reality (whatever that means), mere probabilty seems to be the best tool we have at our disposal. Jacque explicitly said that nothing is going to be perfect - to me that includes the ways in which we try to make sense of nature.

  • happenings of nature is a broad statement. i drink liquid, i need toilet thats nature, thats causality. Jacque doesnt teach, he states the facts.

  • I love this man

  • @Jeffff23 Makes sense that a fresco fan is quoting George Carlin ;)

  • ...."We are fumbling our way around profusely, (copious) just like a new born baby, so we are."

  • The f*cks up with the backround music?

  • Humanism is something that has to be reached on a personal level. It can't be mandated or enforced by a society. However, if we weren't socially engineered and manipulated by our government schools and were actually given a proper education, we would learn from history and naturally grow to be humanitarians.

  • thanks !! great video

  • Every great man is dead, old, or dying. Hitchens died recently, Fresco is 95! Thankfully he looks amazingly healthy for his age, and we're lucky he's been alive for this long.

But, when he's gone and the few other great men are gone, the future looks grim. Where are the intelligent, honest, humanistic young people ready to step up and lead the way? There aren't any I'm afraid. They're too content with their cellphones that make pancakes and rub their balls.
