  • AND ANOTHER THING...People bitch about later Clapton and current Clapton not being like the old Clapton. I ask those people, who is like they used to be? The music Eric produced with Cream was state of the art ART. His entire career he walked away from playing the same old thing to playing and writing something new. Listen to this for what it was and is and be glad someone had a recorder on. This cannot be duplicated by wannabe's or by the original members of Cream. It is in the moment.

  • The guitarwork on this particular track is some of Clapton's best work. I've always felt this live version has been somewhat overlooked. It is copy-book material and exemplary. Its a pity he didn't use his old rig for the Cream's reunion. Love to hear him play an SG throu a Marshall again

  • @tankerman25 Jack Bruce has such a way with his voice-sends the feeling of the song into you just like Clapton's guitar does punctuated with the glory of Ginger Baker's percussion skills-sublime! I never heard this tune until their reunion concert so happy to find it uploaded here-luv it!

  • I see a lot of people asserting that Cream was Clapton's best period as a guitarist. Personally, I disagree. I think the '94-'95 period was his best playing. Although he sure got adventurous during his '06-'07 world tour.

  • really good

  • @bluesont Some nights he really found the pocket. Like so many I crave Clapton via Humbuckers. It lends a power to an already emotional approach.

  • @nikodemus53 Unfortunately Clapton signed a deal with Fender with his signature series and thus when he finally said okay to a Cream reunion after Jack barely recovered from a lifesaving operation, every time Clapton handed off his signature Strat, he got another just like it with the black body, white pickguard, and gym-floor laminated maple fingerboard--nope, [big sigh] never see the likes of any Gibson-like species--the rare 1 pickup Firebird, Les Paul customs/stds, 335s either!

  • This solo (EC) is quintessential!!!!! His timing is absolutely perfect. Everything a blue solo ( or any other ) should have. What power, his transitions are not based on 16th notes but long interval's. My Humble opinions :o)

  • Yeah this is peak Clapton. A sublime singing tone and vibrato. Eric was brilliant then and really was a pioneer every bit as much as Hendrix. His approach was violin-like with the sustain and vibrato. Even the phrasing was simliar only applied to blues.

  • wagabababa

  • That song was smoking....
