This song is from Miles Davis' classic "Kind of Blue" album. The song "Freddie Freeloader" was recorded on March 2, 1959. The video is of Alton Merrell playing Wynton Kelly's solo and the continuation of Alton playing in Kelly's improvisational style once Kelly's solo is finished.

  • This is one of the first piano solos I transcribed for guitar, so many great licks in there. Wynton was the swingingest ever!

  • @rillloudmother yes indeed! swingin is right!

  • Were currently playing this song in our school Jazz band and I am the pianist. When our teacher played this song I was so confused ... This song sounds so much better when Im not playing it!!

  • @ChibiVocaloidxPika You know the progression right? It's Bb7 Eb7 F7 Eb7 Ab7. Trane and Cannonball's solos are a bit dense and complex but Miles solo is a great starting point if you need some food for a solo. It's relatively simple but as usual for Miles, exztremely ingenious and hip. His lines over the V IV sections are just straight mixolydian and mostly root 9th maj 3rds and they sound so hip.

  • @AltonMerrell Haha, thanks for the support ; ^;
