Perfectly succinct terms for clarifying concepts.

Nice vid. Question... I have no one to train with so I spar karate guys(mostly point fighting style to continue learning. I fight in tradtional stance and footwork(triangle footwork pushing through the heels) as not to stray too far from wing chun concepts. Is it at all possible for me to "win" and continue to grow in wing chun. If not what do I have to "give up" in order to continue to move forward or should I say what should I learn from fighting point fighter that is useful to me?

its personal choice, but if you train to spar, that's what you'll get sparring mentality... nothing wrong with that, but that's not wing chun principle.

Good points. Just watched a video with a WC guy with his hands all the way extended against a boxer, it was very bad WC, I'm afraid. A lot of bad Wing Chun Sparring videos out there actually. Could ya'll do some sparring and show the internet how it's done?

This is real Wing Chun. Many vids on YouTube show improper hand position.

thats not what I mean. I'm stuck using sparring for now and I spar in complete ceremony just to refine wing chun concepts. Because I spar in ceremony it is somewhat difficult to close the gap, I can defend just fine. but attacking is a challenge because I cannot kick the lead knee because it may injury my training partner. Are there just some limitations I will have to live with if I want to spar in this stance or is it just a matter of practice?

Same question here! Now you may know the WSL line WC goes forward, stopping the motion of the hook at its beginning. As far as I can see this method is the closest that comes to not chasing hands. Do you do it differently? P.S. I'm not from the WSL line

    LOL what a comment!!!

I'm sure you could give better advice then that. There is wing chun videos on the subject, I think you even did one.

In reguards to the last comment on the video "chasing hand strikes" Yes I agree with the comment! I have instinctively used wild blocks even though I don't train that way. Plus I didn't realise that it comes from a sparring mentality, but now I fully agree.
