Romeo and Juliet is a comedy and a tragedy.... it just depends who acts it out and who is watching :)

As always Shakespeare spoils the tragedy, though it is formally tragic that by mistake the two lovers slay themselves, each thinking that the other has died already; but the verses and the overall bearing makes the whole scene seem far to lofty, mostly because Shakespeare fancies self-slaughter and so his characters don’t take life that serious as the tragic heroes of the Greeks did; but one should not charge the Englishman above his ability ad therefore I am content with this his fancy play.
