This an early test for an elephant walk cycle in preparation for a new feature film called 'Monty's Quest'. The live-action begins in July and August 2009. Editing will be carried out into 2010 with many 3D elements. We are going to use a combination of Blender 3D, Carrara Pro, Daz Studio, Lightwave and Maya. Compositing in Apple's Motion and Adobe After Effects as part of a college project.

  • Thanks for your comment Tazy50. The character is a Daz product I was trying to use the IK system but I think it probably used the FK instead. I using a training disc from Phil Wilkes and am managing to get a better idea of how Carrara Pro 8 uses IK. More experiments on the way. I have about 10 minutes of animation that I am working on for a feature film and am bouncing between Blender 3D and Carrara. Getting there but it is a slow process and a passion of love.

  • there's no weight to his walk. it looks like he's floating, kicking thru air.

weight is extremely important in animaiton

  • @jhuggs2121 I've done a few more versions since then including 'Elephant 007 HDV 720pH264 ' which is also on my videos. Project is on hold at the moment but hope to do more this summer.

  • It's based on a walk cycle Muybridge did. But we'll experiment further, after the live-action shoot has finished 12th August. Thanks for your comment. All the best George
