  • you all going encrypted fully like us local1323?

  • stick with Kenwood or Icom. There is a joke in the radio business: MOTOROLA!! you can always buy better but you CAN'T PAY MORE! LOL

  • nobody can purchase anything from motorola. you have to get it from a separate dealer. cause motorola doesnt retail.

  • Hey man nice radio, that XTL 2500 has given me excellent service no matter where I've been.

  • if only amateurs were made this well

    *sigh*

  • By the way this mobile rocks we have this in our SUV's and vans

  • question for you, have you ever programed a XTS-5000. I am currently on a music tour's security advance team and we are debating on getting the software so we can program our radios whenever and wherever. Since I am the only tech savy dude on the team I have been asked if we proceed with the purchase for to program. I have programed with Kenwoods easy software but was curious about motorola. I asked you cause you seem to know a lot : ) Thanks !

  • wrong. it would be nice though but not possible. maybe for your basic analog old setup but not the new secure system. motorola went all out this time.

  • Blokemall, in most cases anyone can purchase the radio. But you will need them to program in the channels for you. A reputable dealer will only program channels designated for public service (police, fire, state police, or sheriff) into the radio in a receive mode. There is nothing illegal about using one of these radios as a scanner as long as encryption decoding isn't enabled. Normal APCO25 decoding is fine, as long as it hasn't been encrypted.

  • Can anyone purchase these radios from Motorola? or does it require proof that I am a local Police or Fire Department in order to purchase these radios?
