The intercepted telephonic conversation between Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander Wali-ur-Rehman and some unknown person clearly revealed that terrorist attack at GHQ was planned in South Waziristan. This was said by the military spokesman DG ISPR Major General Athar Abbass while briefing media this evening at Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). The spokesman said that the hostage situation forced operation of anti terrorist force of Special Services Group (SSG) primarily for the safety of 45 people taken into hostage by the terrorists. He informed media that operation, named Janbaz was divided into two phases. Giving details of the operation, DG ISPR said the first phase was started at 6:00 am and swiftly completed in 45 minutes rescuing 30 hostages and killing four terrorists. During this phase three hostages and two SSG commandos embraced shahadat. Whereas in second phase, terrorist leader (Aqil alias Dr Usman) blew rest of explosive before he was arrested with severe injury. Three of severely injured commandos succumbed to injuries last night, DG ISPR added. Giving a nutshell of casualties, he informed that nine out of ten terrorists weren't killed and one, Aqil was arrested whereas ten soldiers and four civilians embraced shahadat. On 10th Oct at 11:30 am, ten terrorists in Army uniform in white Suzuki tried to enter GHQ check post, countering to which intense firing took place between the security forces and the terrorists, resulting five terrorists killed. Later, responding to questions he said that vehicle used by terrorists was having army number plate and pasted monograme of GHQ at its front screen. He also said that Brig. Anwar-ul-Haq shaheed and Lt. Col Waseem shaheed upon hearing the sound of firing came out of the security office when one of the terrorists opened fire at them resulting their shahadat. On linkage of terrorists with other groups, he said that they belonged to splinter of banned groups Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Jaish-e-Muhammad.
