Dr. Matt McClung, Professor at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, plays the 2009 Texas All-State 4 Mallet Etude: "Kain" from "Marimba: Technique Through Music" by Mark Ford at its preferred performance tempo. http://www.promark.com/
First of all, at the start of 0:57 it is suposed to be with mallet 4 not mallet 3. Also, what is up with the double hit on the same note at 1:25 with mallets 3 & 4. I don't think thats supposed to be there......Anyways, great use of dynamics and good job with the piece.
Well, I thought it was really good. Dynamics were great and you kept a good pulse! I remember having to play this piece for region.. Haha. Don't worry, I didn't use the correct sticking either. It's just easier to use mallet 3 the entire time for the quarter note triplet part, in my opinion. But anywhooo. Good job(: lol
It took me a long time to finally get the quarter note triplet thing... I didn't get it, no matter how hard I worked, but then, one day, it finally clicked!!! aha, yeah. :)
