Southeast Missouri State University will host an exhibit of artist Jun Kaneko's work starting Sept. 24 in the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at the River Campus.

A public reception will be held at the museum from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1.

On Thursday, Oct. 21, the museum will host an Art Slam! at 6:30 p.m. between Benjie Heu, associate professor of art; Stephanie Lynch, director of public relations and marketing with the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau; and Dr. Melissa Odegard, assistant professor of educational leadership and counseling. The first ever three-person debate/performance will be centered on this exhibition, and audience members are encouraged to participate.

The self titled exhibition "Jun Kaneko" is an extensive representation of Kaneko's work with many mediums including glass, textile, bronze, paper and canvas. Kaneko, a resident of Omaha, Neb., is known for his technical and innovative work, and the exhibition is a compilation of two decades of his work with ceramic, sculpture, drawings and paintings.

The extensive exhibit will be on display through Dec. 5.

The museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at the River Campus, located at 518 S. Fountain Street in Cape Girardeau. Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday and noon to 4 p.m. on weekends.
