they say movies are 'art'. and many games these days are like movies. MGS series for example. if art is a product of mankind on a social and cultural level then does video games not sum up this generation's culture? in which case makes it our own expressive art. art for escape. much like if you were to gaze at a portrait and be sucked into its world od colors. you contradict yourself in your own statement.
if you carefully study about art and artists you'll understand what i'm talking about. a videogame is a GAME, it is only entertainment, even if the aestetic experiences in some videogames are awesome. the borders between art and videogaming production are quite blurred nowdays, but still it's the generative idea which makes these two aspects of our time different. i'm not saying one is more important than the other, but just they cannot be compared
