@thechemlife what concentration was your sulfuric acid and how did you use because the first time i did this i used 50 ml of 95% and nothing happened except it made a very cellulose corrosive substance that if it touched something made of paper it was gone in a blink of an eye. almost like a piranha solution but faster

@HUsoldier171 ya 95% is WAY to high. mine was very dilute. just enough to drop the pH of the solution a bit. I think mine was 20-30% at the most.

I don't think the waiting for a month part is strictly necessary. I tried before, without the wait, and it worked, but my yield was terrible.

@chemicalsymphony the longer the wait, the more effective. an alternate method would be to continue to add fresh celulose and remove the old stuff. however for demonstration purposes to get any decent yield a long waiting period is important. in all honesty i probably waited closer to a month and a half and my yield was still terrible.

@TheChemlife okay thanks once i get around to it ill filter the reagent and try again. but what was it that made the solution able to disolve paperr that fast i mean it was gone the second it made contact
