THOSE OLDIES, BUT GOODIES ~ Little Caesar & The Romans ~ 1961 ~ Del-Fi Records.
Since the topic of this tune is "Oldies, But Goodies" , I put together a slide show of some of the Doo Wop / vocal groups of the 1950's & early 1960's to go along with it . Art Laboe , who created the series of records called, " OLDIES, BUT GOODIES ", seemed to focus more on the vocal groups, so , this seemed right to include just vocal group pictures on this video. Also, in 1961, another version of THOSE OLDIES, BUT GOODIES was recorded by The Ebb Tides ,but it's the Little Caesar & The Romans version that seems better remembered today. However, with that said, The Edd Tides had a better vocal arrangement for the song and the group harmony was tighter and better rehearsed than The Romans . Either way, both versions are good and it's a great song.
Little Caesar & The Romans performed THOSE OLDIES BUT GOODIES on Dick Clark's AMERICAN BANDSTAND on Tuesday- May 23, 1961. The song first hit the charts on May 1, 1961, where it stayed for 13 weeks , & peaked # 9.
