Hitler was a Christian, or at least he talked like one. WHY?

Hitler may not have been a Christian, but he sure spoke like one...AND he knew the importance of religion as the only means of getting millions of people to carry out mass murder...AND he often spoke of his hatred of atheism (kind of odd if he was an atheist don't ya think?).

The only quotes I've seen from Christians are from "table talk", supposed recollections of Hitler's words at dinner tables, sometimes giving a date and an approximation of time (ie "afternoon", or "lunchtime"). These quotes are at least questionable. Perhaps they are accurate, perhaps not, but no one can dispute the content of his speeches or his book, "Mein Kampf". A knife or a gun are good ways of killing someone. Religion and blind belief, blind obediance (or fear in the case of Stalin) are what you need if you want to kill millions.

@Germanien739 As I suspected, I searched you "quotation" and traced it back to a book that was published long after the war. It is NOTORIOUS for being Christian propaganda, written purely to give asshats like you a reason to believe Hitler was not a Christian. Read Mein Kampf, Hitler's own words instead, or a reliable biography (ie, one NOT written by a Christian with a certain fact to hide).

If you're honest, you'll research more. If you're a coward or a liar, you'll just go on spouting lies.

@davidiainmcmahon OK. I'm so used to people who post comments being ignorant of simple chronology I thought you might be one of them. There's an hilarious chat show somewhere on YouTube where one of the regular guests insists that Christianity predates Socrates. Can't remember the name of the programme but Whoopi Goldberg is one of the regulars. (She isn't the one making the stupid claim.)

@Frab2001 Hitler's persecution of Christians only amounted to 1% of Germany's Christian population, not to mention outlawing atheist societies and giving their properties to the church. Moreover you can't just say "no he wasn't" and expect to contradict all the evidence that he was. To borrow your own phrase "grow up".

@mikelheron20 No. I claim that Joshua was the servant of the same sadistic god in the story, just as Moses, Jeptha & David were. All of whom supposedly did exactly as they were told which was to slaughter anyone who didn't fit in with their plans. The point was that the religious have no right to denounce anyone for mass murder since some of the most revered figures in their mythology did the exact same things on a smaller scale under direct instruction from Yahweh.

I see no reason to assume that Hitler was not a Christian. Think of the Christian warlords. Joshua supposedly killed every man, woman & child in 20 cities and he is seen as a hero. Vlad the Impaler is seen as a defender of Christianity from the threat of the Muslim Turks. Slavers who stole the people of Africa and sold them as objects were accepted by the church.

Just because Hitler had people brutalised and slaughtered doesn't exclude him from such company. Being a maniac doesn't rule it out.

Notice how many of these speeches were before being "ruler" of Germany, this was to get him to be '"ruler", hitler was a smart man and he had lots of knowledge.
