Obama, Wright, The Black Church & America

The current controversy between the relationship between Obama and Jeremiah Wright is the wrong question. The question worth evaluating is why the Black Church is what it is and what politics have engaged the Black Church for many generations, not just last week. Why would a sermon. or pieces of a sermon get onto television?

I think that the difference between white churchs and black churchs is black churchs are allowed to talk about race...if a white pastor said "jesus knows what its like to be a poor white man" there would be an uprising. so i think that the white public is takeing this rather well. please comment me back i would really like to discuss this further

It's not tricky, read Cone. Black Liberation Theology teaches there are 2 types, the Oppressed and the Oppressors. Collective Salvation is granted to both types only through the redistribution of the Oppressors wealth to the Oppressed. Which type are you? The President is a religious zealot who believes he can ensure collective salvation for all through social engineering and redistributive change, aka taxes. It's not about race it's about class.

What amazed me , is the white people that called Obama and Rev. Wright racists when it was racist whites that established "black" churches in the first place. They didn't want to worship God with us. Most of these whites never even heard of Rev. Wright or cared about his ministry for the last 40 years, until they needed something convienient to complain about. They dug deep because they couldn't find any character or criminal issues with Obama or his family.
