@ultimateguitar553 What difference does new make? You pay more money and get a product that's probably worse. The stuff in the price range of the MP-1 (~$200) is going to be a piece of shit. The MP-1 is proven reliable. I'm not saying the newer cheap stuff doesn't sound okay, I'm saying it's made in china and it will fall apart if you gig with it. Speaking from experience.

@ptitepolak This is nonsense that cannot be backed up by a properly conducted double-blind listening test, where some obvious factors are compensated for such as using identical speaker cabinets and compensating for differences in frequency response.

sounds wonderful!

never tried a Triaxis but yeah the MP-1 smokes the JMP-1 into the dust, amazing what difference a J can make!

could you play something in drop D tuning? Thanks Jerry

sounds tight! Who did this mod?

So do you just run the MP-1 through a VHT and then to the cab? It's a kick ass sound but my MP-1 doesn't have any mods to it. I like the idea of using only one source for the guitar tone as opposed to using a preamp and then piling on more distortion with a separate pedal.

then you would love to death engl 530 preamp
You played the heck out of that guitar. Tone sounds real good. I'd like to hear this mic'd.

Hey dude, do you thinkt his preamp will sound good with a solidstate poweramp? I'm looking to pick one up with a Carvin FET 450.
Thanks!

Before I had the VHT I ran it with a Mosvalve Power amp...it wasn't bad at all...but it wasn't anywhere in the league of Tube Power.

And I would like to add the two following ones:
- Rocktron Piranha: used by Nightwish & Judas Priest on stage & for recording; be careful, this preamp kills everything but it has to be connected to a tube poweramp. The distorsion of the Piranha is very musical & mid-ful.
- Peavey Rockmaster: very heavy sound, pure tube preamp (4* 12AX7), nice for powerful rock & metal (not as subtile as the Piranha, but more powerful sound).

Yes, those are good suggestions on preamps...but his question was for preamps STILL in production.
