I always that it was funny how the enemies would be just squatting there... after you just beat the crap out of their fellow gang members.

it fixes some, but not all of the SNES FF1 problems. There's co-op, and three available characters. The graphics are a bit better. Those are pluses. On the other hand, there's still only three enemies on screen max at any time. Sound is pretty weak. The plot makes no sense. Guy's girl and her father are kidnapped and he can't be bothered to help rescue them. Jerk. So overall, slightly better than FF1.

The characters are fans of each other and influenced improvements on the moves they shared. Haggar wrestled first and used the Piledriver and Spinning Lariat (FF1). Zangief borrowed them and improved on the Piledriver, adding it's spin, the Spinning Piledriver (SF2). Haggar then borrowed that and used it (FF2). Somewhere along the line Haggar improved the Spinning Lariat to make the faster version that Zangief uses together with the original.
