'UK riots no shock - Yob Generation bites hand that beats it'

The UK riots may come as a shock to many but not to anyone who has had their wits about them. That is the view of Francis Gilbert, author of Yob Nation and frequent commentator on youth culture.

­The anger of socially-disadvantaged youth in England's cities has been accumulating for about two decades. They are more organized and less frightened of the consequences of misbehavior because they have been getting away with it without punishment for many years now, explains the writer.

@bjpw1234 Rioting won't help, it will just make things worse! America's leaders know its in deep trouble, but they can't do anything about it. That's why its called a RECESSION! It will take a long time to recover from all this economic turmoil.The recession was caused by greedy bankers and idiots trying to live beyond their means. There is no magic wand response to solve your problems. It will take at least another 2-5 years for us to recover.

People in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are worse off than people living in England and they didn't riot. This guy is a middle aged, upper class, toff who is totally detached from reality.I grew up with the sort of people who did this and I can safely say this guy is a totally wrong 'PC' plod who has no clue about what is really going on. They wern't "UK riots" seen as the riots only took place in English Cities.. there was no rioting in Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish cities
