The smell of fresh timber at a North-Karelian cargo yard mixes to the ever fascinating odour of the crosstie pitch on a warm, cloudless July day. Moraine sand is burning my feet. A Sr1 comes by, and attaches to a multi-car train of timber. As the Siberian Wolf pulls away, the experience is climaxed by the sound of the powerful cooling fans spinning up as the train gains speed.. *WHHHHRRRRoooomm*
A gentle wind from the cars caresses my face.
Ahh, that's the Finland of my sweetest memories.. <3

@markskise These were built some 30-40 years ago in the former Soviet Union, although these feature many Finnish made parts as well.

REAL Free energy technology exists! But the big oil corporations don't want that technology revealed,Get a real free energy motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Be the revolution!
I shall try again! (For some reason on some clips, I can't seem to add postings here on Youtube)! Beautifl trains! I hope to ride next year. PLEASE do NOT "modernise" with window tinting (an international virus that has ruined many railways) and do keep the electrification! Absolutely beautiful rolling stock that is disappearing with many new European "modernisation" projects. This is Europe as I know it! Don't allow such to be destroyed!!! Last bastion of beauty! Thanks.

Electrification is still continuing in Finland.. But the first Sr1's are going to be replaced on 2015.

I just wonder what will they be replaced with... These are very reliable locomotives and my favourites as well. I hope that some day I will be driving one of these =)

Well, i think the most favorable option is Siemens Eurosprinter ES64U...

I would also like them to replaced by Eurosprinters, since they have good reliability and experience. But I think the Alstom PRIMA II is more probable since Alstom already made broad gauge an option and they want to sell it to us, they (Alstom) even said in in an interview.

Or even more probable, VR Ltd has relations with Bombardier Transportation... TRAXX may be the one.
