The end of each muted trumpet phrase on the first 8 bars of the form is not right....it should be a 4-over-3 crossrhythm, not just straight triplets. Check it out.
@DGWise Hey good ear! The trumpet only plays that lick 4 times in the original and a couple of those are pretty sloppy.I also checked the Mingus Big Band version and they also missed this and play straight triplets. But in the "head out" of the original you can hear Mingus sing along and he definitly sings a 4 over 3.
