Canadian police on Thursday said they have found a body they believe is missing actor Andrew Koenig, son of former "Star Trek" star Walter Koenig, who disappeared earlier this month. - Feb 25, 2010 -
The disappearance of Koenig, who starred in television sitcom "Growing Pains" in the 1980s, caused alarm among his friends and family since he went missing on February 18.
"Vancouver Police are investigating the discovery of a body found in Stanley Park around noon today. The body is believed to be that of Andrew Koenig," police said in a statement.
Stanley Park is a large expanse of grass, trees and tourist attractions near the city's downtown. Koenig, whose home was in Los Angeles, was visiting friends in Vancouver.
Further details are expected at a news conference set for late afternoon in Vancouver, police said.
Koenig, 41, portrayed Richard "Boner" Stabone on "Growing Pains," and since then has had mostly small roles on TV and in the movies. His disappearance caused friends including actress Alyssa Milano, actor Kirk Cameron and comedian Sara Silverman to post comments online or put out statements seeking information on his whereabouts.
Walter Koenig played navigator Pavel Chekov in the "Star Trek" series.

poor Boner, many said that this would happen, especially breaking up with girlfriend and father, Walter, said he was suffering from depression. Blessing to him and his family also....and anyone suffering with illnesses that they all get treatment and have support and encouragement from family and friends, very important...we take care of each other!

I never knew his father was Walter Koenig, I wish I didn't have to find that out this way. I enjoyed Andrew on Growing Pains and sometimes it is easy to forget the actors on TV, in movies, etc. have personal lives. It stinks he was so unhappy and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family who have lost a son. I am bipolar and have suffered depression but I get treatment and being a Jehovah's Christian Witness, I find solace in prayer and fellowshipping with fellow believers and friends..
