Who needs a Mac to run "Parallels"? Don't be deceived by the "Windows vs. Mac" ads; they conveniently forget to mention Linux; a FREE alternative, which blows both out of the water. In this video, you'll see FL Studio 7 running in Windows XP within Ubuntu on a PC. I've also demonstrated the 3D capabilities of the following software combination: Ubuntu Feisty, Beryl, VMWare Workstation 6 (running Windows XP with FL Studio 7 running perfectly with very little CPU usage), Google Earth & Mozilla Firefox w/ Flash 9.

@MrZardoz777 He doesn't appear to be replying. Tell me how many cores you have and I will tell you how well it will run. (pretty much if you have something like a core 2 duo then you will be fine)

@DimitrisMPapadakis Probably VMWare...

I'm sold; didn't realize you could run a DAW in the guest machine so effectively.
If the poster is still out there, how many cores are you running?

Xen Hypervisor would be a much better choice for the host platform, mainly for the vga passthrough. Only con for xen is you have to compile from source if you want a decent version, which is not really that big of a deal. Vmware is a joke, you're only paying 189 dollars for what? a pretty little GUI and about half the functionality compared to other VM managers? Another prime example of how popular technology beats better technology every time, sad.

VMWare Workstation OR Virtualbox? What should I use?

Hi can someone tell me how I can do this so I can run Quark!! (It does not work through WINE). I own a legal copy. I just can't switch to Linux because I MUST use this program for work, so I'm stuck with windows. HOW CAN I DO THIS VIRTUALIZATION AND HAVE WINDOWS RUN AS A DESKTOP WITHIN MY LINUX?
I HAVE LINUX UBUNTU 10.04 (WILL NOT GO UP TO 10.10 OR 11.04)

I believe that Debian is much more stable than ubuntu, in spite of the fact that it's not updated as often as ubuntu and uses older soft packages.
