If u fill the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug u have 2 gallon left, empty the 3 gallon jug and the the 2 gallons that r left in the 5 gallon jug goes into the 3 gallon jug, then fill the 5 gallon jug, an the 3 gallon jug Shud have 1 gallon of space so u Shud pour the 5 gallon jug into it leavin 5 gallons

@HighlandTroll That requires three buckets. Right? How can you fill the 3 gallon bucket with 5 gallons of water if the five gallon bucket water already has 3 gallons in it?

i found another way .... empty the 5 and fill it with 3 then empty 3 and fill 5 with it leaving 1g in the 3.... then just pour out the 5 and pour in the 1g from the 3.....then fill 3 and pour into 5 giving u exactly 4 GALLONS! biotch!
