TV interview of Mary Ann Wallace, MD, about her latest book "Mindful Eating: MIndful Life" by KVAL TV in Eugene, Oregon.

Mindful Eating: Mindful Life carries the reader right to the roots of maladaptive eating habits. Designed for the layperson, this book explains in clear and often humorous language how and why we overeat. Exploring the reasons behind why we eat what we do has become Dr. Wallaces forte. When obesity surpassed smoking as the leading cause of preventable disease, Dr. Wallace developed her Mindful eating series of classes as an alternative to diets or surgery. She wrote Mindful Eating Mindful Life in response to requests from class participants, gleaning the content from years of experience in these classes. The book reflects her ongoing commitment to do that which most matters in the effort to make a difference in peoples lives.

Participants in the Mindful Eating classes say: Dr. Wallace gently helped us examine why we eat the way we do. Im treating myself with the kindness Ive been taught to treat others. What Dr. Wallace helped find was better than a diet.

Her class has been the catalyst to a plethora of positive changes Ive made in my life. The biggest being to appreciate who I am, to know its o.k. to take care of my own needs, and to be a better, healthier, more whole me!
