It has to do with the aperture setting, which is like the pupil of the lens. The higher the F stop the wider the depth of field, meaning that the aperture (pupil) is smaller or more closed . If you have noticed a lot of new HD cameras do this thing where the person is in focus and the background is blurry, This is usually a setting around F1.8 or 2. This "video" is probably set to something like F22 or in that range, keeping more of the field in focus.
