My old man was a Hellcat, Corsair and C-47 mechanic in a sister unit to the Black Sheep in VMF-212. He introduced me to Boyington in the late 70's. He was very much a gentleman and chatted with us for nearly half an hour. This show influenced me to earn my pilot's license.
I had the great honor of meeting Major Boyington in the mid 80's at an airshow, he was there as a spectator and my aunt an I sat with him for most of the show.
It was in this the making of this show that Elvis Presley died. The show was stopped for the day out of respect for Red West and Robert Conrad. Both "friends" of Elvis.

You mean 1977, not 1967.

A great show, but the Japanese would never sail a carrier into the slot and then leave it there for a few days lol

I became a fan of the Corsair thanks to this show. Such an elegant aircraft, and a great show to boot.
