North Korea, under Kin Il unleashed a volley of over 200 shells aimed at South Korea.
50 of them hit Yeonpyeong near the border setting more than 60 houses ablaze and sending civilians fleeing in terror.
Two South Korean soldiers were killed and a dozen injured.
One South Korean citizen said "Houses and mountains are on fire and people are evacuating. You can't see very well because of plumes of smoke. People are frightened to death and shelling continues as we speak."
An entire village on the island is on fire and was destroyed. A dark, thick, black smoke was rising up from the island.
Is this start of WWIII?
