  • What a blast from the past. I remember playing this game - it was so much fun. I remember having pages of notes full of coordinates for star systems, planets, and worm holes. If you can post some more gameplay, I'd love to see it. Thank you for sharing this great old game.

  • best game I ever!!! The starmaps really were sweet.

  • @jesusthathurts There already WAS an 'unofficial' Starflight 3 - the developers left EA and made "Protostar: War on the Frontier" (because EA held the I.P. rights).

Agreed on the fan-made Starflight game; it's kinda sad it got stalled like that... :(

  • The inspiration for starcontrol 2.

  • @JustAnotherMutant Thanks very much for all your help!

  • HardWarUK, just data you can sell I'm afraid. That would be a nice feature for a remake though.

  • @JustAnotherMutant Oh, I see, missed that in the manual. So does that mean you can see a picture of the critter in game, or is it just data you can sell?

  • @HardWarUK, I had the DOS version.

If you pause at 05:52, right below capture you will see "record bio-data". If I recall correctly, the manual lists this as a holographic recording... so a 3D picture of the critter.

  • @JustAnotherMutant Is that just SEGA, I don;t notice that feature in the DOS version?!

  • HardWarUK, yes... in addition to capturing creatures and having your lander eaten by them, you can also make recordings of them. The recordings aren't worth as much as a captured creature, but have no weight.
