It was used to durind the 2009 season to recover energy from braking and save it so it could be used as extra power during ten seconds every lap

Now it is not allowed though

@lifepathsthroughdark Actually the KERS device is still allowed, but none of the teams have decided to use it. I think that McLaren were genius in coming up with the F-duct system, which seems like an alternative to KERS. About the video...it keeps breaking up. Why is that happening?

I don´t know the reason, it´s weird and affects the quality of the video......

@Mcfcae You mean 19 years worth of regulating designed to slow the cars down? The Old Monza circuit was faster, the cars produced a lot more power meaning better acceleration (Similar or lower top speeds as the old cars were not as aerodynamically efficient). Plus in 2009 they had race fuel onboard for qualifying.

It's wishful thinking, to say that Senna was faster than Hamilton based on two qualifying times on different circuits, in different eras, in very different cars...

@Mcfcae You sir, are a fool. The old monza circuit layout was much faster and this car would have been brimmed with fuel in final qualifying which is what this video is of. Nobody was faster than that on that weekend, which suggests it had nothing to do with the drivers. Kindly stop talking out of your arse.

@Mcfcae impossible to compare, Senna's car has a much bigger engine aswell and the the regulations imposde in 09 were new so the cars were getting to grips with that... what a ridiculous comment

Everybody claims that Hamilton is one of the best formula 1 driver ever yet he's 2 seconds a lap slower than Ayrton Senna with a car boosting 19 additionnal years of technology, I find it rather pathetic. If you don't believe me check this video
