  • All ifrastructure in Korea until 1945 had been constructed by Japan. Japan ivested huge budget into Korea to make modernized country. That didn't mean colony. That was the annexation. Colony means exploitation. Annexation means investment. Japan invested 400 billion $ during 35 years. 3500km railroad, 5500 schools. electric supply , release women from feudal tradition. Now Japan is lucky that Japan could leave off Korea so as not to give money any more. But Japan paid 30billion$ in 1965 again.

  • These photos had been taken during the annexation by Japan. There are so many

time lag. For example, before Japanese annexation of Korea, there were not modern

building or factories in Korea. If Japan lost Russo-Japan war, Korea had have to be colony of Russia. Russin's far east city VRADI VOSTOK means conquest east!

Korea was lucky that Korea choose Japan for modernized and independency in 1945.

  • (Part2)On 22 August 1910, Japan effectively annexed Korea with the Japan-Korea Annexation Treaty signed by Lee Wan-Yong, Prime Minister of Korea. 洪思翊, Hong Sa Ik, he was Korean, who was Lieutenant General of Japanese Imperial Army. 朴春琴, Park Chun-geum was a member of House of Representatives in Tokyo. However, Korean people said Japan occupied Korea forcedly. Koreans have not learned the fact in schools. Koreans accusations are completely incorrect.

  • (Part1)The Iljinhoe was a nation-wide pro-Japan organization in Korea. The party thought that Korea could not develop capitalism on its own, and demanded a merger with the Japanese Empire. Meanwhile, Japan needed to defend itself from Western countries such as Soviet, so the newly modernized Meiji government of Japan turned to Korea because various Western countries actively competed for influence, trade, goods, and territory in East Asia in the late 19th and early 20th century.

  • @baron706

Korean electricity (both North and South) is 220 volts, Japanese electricity is 100 volts. Surely if the Korean electricity grid had been built during Japanese rule, they'd both use the same voltage wouldn't they?

  • @eylee86

I don't know what baron706 exactly believes, but I agree that Japan's annexation of Korea was not for the benefit of Korea, but for the benefit of Japan.

  • @eylee86

The world was brutal at that time. "Neutral" does not seem to be an option for Japanese national security of Japan considering the fact that Korea is located so close to Japan. The best scenario for Japan was Korea had lived on its own under strong influence of Japan from economical point of view, but Korea was not there at that time. Do you agree or do you have other thoughts?

  • @eylee86

Japan needed Korea as a buffer to Russia and China while Korean needed Japan not to be part of Russia or China and financial aid necessary to avoid bankruptcy. It was nothing wrong at that time. I agree that Japan made a horrible choice, and it was the worst investor in the world.

  • I like the way how "Japan was good" has a lot of evidences yet "Japan was evil" have no evidence and uses offencive words. Maybe education gap??
