This is "Zacchaeus, Come Down" from my CD Time Of Mercy.
I thought this might be fun, especially for any Beatle enthusiasts: see how many Beatle songs you can find referenced in the song. When I wrote the song I wanted to produce and record it similar to the early Beatles sound - initially having in mind something like their rendition of ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN. Then, as I was actually recording it, I found that it lent itself to referencing so many other Beatle songs as well, that I deliberately incorporated bits and pieces here and there throughout the song. Some came almost instinctively because I grew up listening to all the Beatles songs and they have become ingrained in my brain! Some are quite blatant and other bits a little more subtle. Altogether there are 11 Beatle songs that I can name represented in Zacchaeus, including three songs they covered by other artists. if you feel up to the challenge, see how many Beatle songs you can name and send me message. Have fun! I wonder if Mike H. can name them all!
P.S. Incidently since recording the song I learned that I am not pronouncing Zacchaeus properly. Ah well - Too late now! ZACCHAEUS COME DOWN
Jesus and His friends, they would walk from town to town
Everybody knew Him for miles and miles around
Word spread that He was coming
That Jericho was next in line
Crowds came, anticipating
Who will The Lord stay with this time?
Zacchaeus was a rich chief tax collector in town
The people didn't like him, no one wanted him around
Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus
As He walked through the Jericho crowd
But he was short and could not see Him
He climbed a tree and Our Lord called out
Zacchaeus, come down
Zacchaeus, come down
Zacchaeus, come down
Zacchaeus, come down
The party is at your house
Zacchaeus, come down
All the people started grumbling
The Lord is going to a sinner's house
Zacchaeus said I'll give half my belongings
To the poor people in our town
And I will give to those I have cheated
Four times what they are owed
And Jesus said to him, Salvation
Has come today to your home
Jesus and His friends still walk from town to town
Everybody knows Him for miles and miles around
Word is out that He is coming
Prepare your heart, let Him come inside
Climb the tree, we all need saving
Jump in His arms when He passes by (C) 2000 Paul Lisney 11/11/00

Can you put more of Paul's music on youtube? His CDs don't play for me but I find them wonderful! And I'm in need of some uplifting music here of late!
This is one of my favorites, thanks!
