When I designed, built and powered my Critical Power human powered vehicle 650 miles in 24 hours setting a new world record, my message to the world was to raise awareness of the serious health issues afflicting modern society caused by our sedentary lifestyle. Simply put - To stem the obesity epidemic, we need to become more active!

When was the last time you drove your car 650 miles in one day? On July 19th, 2006, I covered that unfathomable distance on a bicycle! - my way of showing the world that a human powered vehicle is a valid, efficient and fun way to travel.

Now, I plan to do the same thing by crossing the Atlantic ocean in a human powered boat. A small, solo sail boat can take between 30 to 60 days to cross the Atlantic, and my goal is to accomplish the crossing in 40 to 50 days proving again that human power can compete head to head with conventional forms of transportation. • But the food?... water, etc.? Is he going to cross the ocean alone, without company?

  • I subcribed to gregs email list...in the last email it looks like the crossing is on the back burner some what at the moment....he even mentioned or hinted at a pedal powered aircraft attempt, I cant help feeling his boat isn't the best over all design, but what do I know?

  • good luck

  • jeeze!

  • no 10 ironmans in 6 years

  • OMG 6 ironmans!

  • At the Southampton Boat show 2 years ago i saw an impressive new pedal powered system using a nifty flipper power, its called the hobie mirge drive, worth checking very efficient and powerefull

  • good job on your goals ~~ hope you are able to cross in the time your looking for.... I am working a pedal boat idea, I think human power is a great resource but i think i figured out a way to use less human power and more gear for longer and faster trips... I hope to see more progress on your voyage ~~ Good Luck

  • You are N U T S! I'd love to see the sea trials.

  • Greg,
