Note: This version is NOT the version found on ''Ladies and Gentlemen...The Grateful Dead Live At The Fillmore April 1971''. This is a different version, not included on the CD. This is my favorite version of ''Second That Emotion'' ...enjoy...

Do any of you dead heads know if they then played Stoney Brook whilst they were in NY this time around? I'm having an argument with another old hippie. Thanks.

'Second that Emotion' was the first Dead tune I ever heard -- my response? Wow! I'm home!

This is actually from the 29th. Note Phil coming in late and his bass briefly cutting out just before the solo. This is probably the best of the few versions they played. Check out Jerry & Bobby playing it with Letterman's band, also on Youtube.

They definitely did Smokey justice. The Dead had so many good orignals, they didn't NEED to do covers. BUT........ many of the covers they did do...... turned out so well. This is a prime example of that.

Yep a gem. If you can't dance to this something is wrong with your blood.
Phil's bass just grooves the whole time.
Thanks for sharing

Thanks man. Must have been 68. I recall it was cold out...probably in the fall of the year. It's a blur.

I think this was the opening night of that Fillmore run. I was there! This gave me a new appreciation for Smokey Robinson, and I started playing this song with friends.
