  • @VeryGoodFeeling Thanks! They used to only have Japanese announcements on the trains here, but now most lines have announcements in Japanese first, and then in English. Since the English is sometimes a little strange, I end up wondering what the exact announcements are in English-speaking countries.

  • @lylehsaxon It´s mostly the same ("Please change here for the ....") But japanese announcements are really cool, don´t they?: "Tsugiwa Kanda, Kanda. Odeguchiwa hidarigawadesu" ;D

  • This ended up being an English lesson for me: "Stand clear of the door". I'm so used to Japanese announcements, that I don't know what the overseas English versions are! How do they announce train transfers? In Tokyo, they are irritatingly announced (in the English version) as "Please transfer for the [Whatever} line", to which I invariably think "But I don't *want* to, I want to go somewhere else!". - LHS
