That was the time when Hollywood and our dear Country really loved America,
God Bless America.

My favorite part of one of my favorite movies - Love Jane Froman's voice and love Susan Hayward's performance. Love those guys portraying our brave troops also!

I met Jane and Roland Smith years ago after my right leg was amputated caused by a drunk hit and run driver. I love of her music she recorded and the 13 songs she sang to me after a superb dinner she prepared.
Every time I hear "AMERICAN MELODY" and though I'm 59 years young I cry like a newborn baby. When I get to heaven after I meet my creator I want to continue my listening to Jane as she has the voice of an angel. In my own way I am delighted God gave her life and no pains in eternal sleep.

There is a new Book on Susan Hayward By Gene Arceri called"Brooklyn Scarlett" Susan Hayward Fire in the wind" I know the Gene Arceri the Author. Gene Arceri's beginning of the extensive research that went into this book. A journey that took him from Brooklyn to Atlanta, with stops everywhere, and in-between wanting face to face interviews, anywhere he could find some insight into this compelling personality. With help from Hayward's brother Walter.

She was awesome-my parents had her records. Her voice was so terrific-but her contribution to the war effort put her in a whole other place!

This movie is captivating today as much as it was back in 1952. A great musical, a great voice of Jane Froman and a great performance by Susan Hayward. One of Hollywood's best musicals ever. Thanks for posting. God bless.
This film was the first time I ever heard the song "America the Beautiful" and I remember thinking, why isn't this song the Amrican national anthem? I still think that.

@simikess It should have been, as it is much more beautiful than our anthem, but it was not selected probably because it was written by an immigrant, Irving Berlin.

@stephenjoeagi I think you're mixing it up with "God Bless America" which was written by Irving Berlin. "America the Beautiful" was written by Katherine Lee Bates and Samuel A. Ward.
