This collection sung and composed by Vijayaa Shankar sounds more like light music than mantras, since the verses are rendered like any other song, with a number of accompanying instruments like the pakhawaj, the santoor, the flute, the dilruba, a mandolin and keyboards, etc. There is also a chorus of singers from time to time. While some of the renditions are melodious all right, the treatment would seem more appropriate for lyrics with less stature than the Mahamrityunjaya mantra, or the Shiva Panchaakshari stotra, for example. Other verses in the collection include the Shiva Suprabhatam, the Margabandhu stotra and the Vaidynathaashtakam.
