Sometimes, they may just mount optics on a standard M14, turning it into a DMR. I believe the M21 uses a match barrel.

@jackatamaster M14 is a "standard" battle rifle. The M21 is more of a Designated Marksman's Rifle.

@Refard5 Its your favourite gun till you get killed using it. The whole consept of the gun was to use a pistol cartridge with a rifle. It was said it could not penetrate VK clothing past 100 meters.
