Francisco Santos Mir III (born May 24, 1979) is an American mixed martial artist and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Kenpō Karate, competing in the heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and a former UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion. He was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mir is currently ranked the #7 heavyweight in the world by Sherdog, and is expected to face ultimate fighter season 10 winner, Roy Nelson, in a 3 round UFC fight at UFC 130 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mir is my fav fighter, but I don't get why he's still not able to control big guys...even though he's a friggin big guy too. Couture was 220 and out-wrestled Lesnar a couple times durin the fight.

@jburm0305 Mir is great, he has the most submissions in the HW division in UFC history. The guy is a fucking monster, his striking is amazing, his submission and BJJ speak for themselves. I mean, is he the GSP of grappling and the Anderson Silva of striking? No. But he's a hell of a lot better than Lesnar and Cro Cop (currently). The only grappler IMO that is better than Mir in the HW division is Roy Nelson, but he is a worse striker than Mir.
