Shawn Antoine Ivy, known as Domino, is an American rapper born in St. Louis, Missouri and raised in Long Beach, California.Being a Crip himself, he auditioned for Bloods & Crips collaboration in the early 1990s.His debut album Domino spawned two major hits in the United States, including the Top 10 hit "Getto Jam", which reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. Several further albums were released, and Domino continued to score hits on the R&B charts into the 2000's.

However, while his debut album was critically well received, Domino was thought to have stolen then up-and-coming rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg's style and therefore boycotted.Three years later, Domino released his second album, Physical Funk, which failed to become as successful as its predecessor.

  • @cubedmack they kind of did. They were in a group together called "Perfection" (Hence the line in '...A G Thang' 'perfection is perfected so ima let 'em understand') Domino started to work with Battlecat and the Bloodz & Crips on the album "Bangin' On Wax" and his own solo album. It just so happened that 'Domino' came out after 'Doggystyle', otherwise we might have been giving Domino the credit he deserves. Domino also battled against Kurupt in the late 80s

  • DOMINO

  • bad ass song crazy ass 90s

  • Quote: "Domino was thought to have stolen then up-and-coming rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg's style..." I'm not sure thats completely true. Real heads knew the score, but he was definately over shadowed by doggy style. I actually preferred the domino album because it was less polished. Both albums had all the same ingredients. The whole west coast thing seemed very exotic to people in the UK at the time... we loved it.

  • LONGO BEACH ALL DAY EVUR DAY

  • Long Beach 213 REPRESENT!!

  • i like this better than ghetto jam

  • California was on top back then. It all went to hell when ATL took over, and that wasn't a good thing.

  • lyrics were more complex in the 90s. styles were better, and production made you forget all about the 80s.

  • It' a shame Domino and Snoop didn't work together.
