Like the Internet, GPS is an essential element of the global information infrastructure. GPS technology is found in everything from cell phones and wristwatches to shipping containers, and ATM's. The system boosts productivity across a wide swath of the economy, to include farming, construction, mining, surveying, supply chain management and more. Major communications networks, banking systems, financial markets, and power grids depend on GPS and the technology is embedded in virtually every U.S. military asset making our armed forces safer and more effective.

Maybe if you know the exact co-ordinates of the rising and setting of the sun you could use that intelligence to maximise the best use of sunlight and position the planting of the crops with this in mind. Thats as far as my thinking takes me....

I'm from The UK so I don't know where the sun sets or rises or what side of the field gets the most sunlight - but say your field was like 25x25 square miles and you found that the western side of the crop field started ripening faster than the rest of the field - you could pinpoint the sections exactly with GPS and then schedule tractor machinery to start on that particular area first etc - thats as far as my thinking takes me.....tbh I have no idea what use GPS would be to a farmer..

Well if you're just going to focus on plan b...Yes we have plan B & C. Also multiple plans can be coordinated at once. GTMR, cell towers, drones, radio towers, power stations, IR electromagnetic radiation, it goes on & on. One or all can be used to pinpoint locations over a given terrain. GPS is the easy way, they cost effective way but it is by no means the only way.

Oh, I see. Take down or limit an asset that the enemy has or will destroy. That makes a lot of sense. How are you going to take down or limit access to an asset that will no longer exists? Is this your plan B? If so, we are doomed. How about a different logic: Don't use GPS on critical systems and find work-arounds. The GPS satellite system is wonderful for peacetime service. But for wartime service it is a nightmare waiting to happen.
