kentucky Km-300E might work but its only electric i think. Or i always see Goya mandolins pop up on like ebay and sites like that they go for like 100-200 all the time and are made under CF Martin so i bet its decent but definately lower end than real Martin stuff

  • so I'm planning on getting a mandolin, but I'm aiming for one under 260 and acoustic-electric so I can play with a band. what do u recommend?

    thanks

  • @bluegrasssingingman It has the Gibson Fern sound,It is a great copy of a Fern. You are right Collings can't touch it.

  • That Holoubek is a very nice sounding mandolin. Bark, Pop, Crack, and a woody sound makes the best mandolins, and that Holoubek has it.

  • @bluegrasssingingman I agree with you about Collings being over priced, they are the "Taylor Guitars" of Mandolins in my mind... you know what I mean?

You should check out my video on my channel with Marc Silver & the Stonethrowers to hear a nice recording of my Holoubek. I think you'll enjoy it.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  • I really appreciate both these mandolin reviews. I hope you do more quickie mandolin lessons like the Road to Spencer one you did a while back. and +100 for Chris Thile having played your mandolin.

  • Good review

  • Great to see you making videos again,

    Nice review!

  • @Itsooz
