Ceylon Petroleum Corporation employees have assured that they will not join work stoppages or be misled by conspiracies..
Employees of the Corporation at Kolonnawa gave this assurance to Presidential Trade Union Director Baratha Lakshman Premachandra and Western Province Governor Alavi Moulana.
As an official of the Transport Division, he said measures will be taken to carry out distribution at a higher percentage. He requested the people not to entertain any fear.
An employee said the country had been liberated after 30 years and the President had not been allowed a respite of at least five months. He said conspiracies the opponents will be defeated and fuel distributed throughout the country.
Another worker observed that the so called strike is being staged by the JVP and the UNP. One more employee was of the view that diesel and kerosene for the entire country can be distributed from the Muthurajawela Refinery. He said that no employee of the refinery is supporting Trade Union action.
Giving his views, Baratha Lakshman Premachandra said that they had to intervene in this struggle. This is the beginning of a political struggle. He said the Petroleum Corporation has to be protected to safeguard the President..
